Caroline's Buttermilk Pie

This is a wonderful, old-fashioned pie. Don't be put off by the buttermilk; this is a sweet and flavorful dessert. This recipe makes two pies but, if you want just one, it can be easily halved.
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 sticks of butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 unbaked 9-inch pie shells
Preheat oven to 400°F.

Combine all ingredients in large bowl. Mix well. Pour into 2 unbaked pie shells. Bake 10 minutes at 400°F. Reduce heat to 350°F and bake for 45 minutes.
Makes 2 pies.

Prep time: 6 minutes; Cooking time: 45 minutes; Total time: 51 minutes
