Caroline's Buttermilk Pie
This is a wonderful, old-fashioned pie. Don't be put off by the buttermilk; this is a sweet and flavorful dessert. You can use your favorite electric device to put this mixture together and, if you've got a good arm, you can even beat it by hand.
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- In a medium bowl, combine beaten eggs, butter, sugar and flour, and beat until smooth.
- Stir in buttermilk and vanilla. Pour into unbaked pie shell.
- Bake 10 minutes at 400°F. Reduce heat to 350°F and bake an additional 45 minutes, or until center is firm.
Prep time: 6 minutes; Cooking time: 45 minutes; Total time: 51 minutes
