Hot Scotch Toddy

Writer William Faulkner had his own favorite hot toddy recipe. Time honored, hot scotch drinks have been used for generations to provide cold relief. Drinking this with a sore throat is guaranteed to provide instant relief. Studding the cloves in the lemon slice provides both an aromatic and visual touch.

Ingredients:
  • 2 measures Scotch whiskey
  • 3 measures boiling water
  • 1/2 measure lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon honey (or brown sugar)
  • 3 drops Angostura bitters
  • 1 slice lemon, studded with cloves
  • ground nutmeg
Preparation:
  1. Put the sugar, bitters, lemon juice, and clove-studded lemon slice in the glass.
  2. Add the Scotch and pour in the boiling water. Stir to dissolve the sugar and sprinkle with ground nutmeg.
  3. Now, that's medicine! Fills one glass.
