What does the word cinnabar mean to you?

What's a Cinnabar?

By the end of 2000, cobalt blue was still the most populer color in the Post86 Fiesta line. (Scarlet red was still years away.) This same year HLC introduced two new colors to the line - a brighter yellow that was officially Sunflower Yellow, and a pleasant brownish red color named cinnabar. This color is sometimes mistakenly referred to as maroon.

Cinnabar Fiesta immediately started selling at all retail outlets. The color sold well in what turned out as a ten year production run. It was ultimately phased out soon after paprika was introduced.

We served our recipe for scalloped potatoes in a Cinnabar Fiesta oval casserole dish.
