Hot Grog

Unlike the ice cold Navy Grog, this spiced rum drink is served hot. It came about when Admiral Sir Edward Vernon, while trying to cut costs and conserve supplies on the open sea, diluted the crew's rum with water. Eventually, the crew realized the drink tasted better served hot. It's a popular cold remedy as well.

We drink it on the popular International Talk Like a Pirate Day, because it definitely loosens the tongue.

  • 2/3 measures limejuice
  • 1 teaspoon honey (or brown sugar)
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1 small cinnamon stick
