Hot Buttered Rum

A cup of Hot Buttered Rum takes the chill right out.
  • 1 pound butter (4 sticks), softened
  • 1 pound brown sugar
  • 1 pound confectioners sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 quart vanilla ice cream, softened
  • rum, light or dark
    (We used Texas-made Treaty Oak Platinum Rum)
  • boiling water
Combine the butter, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg and ice cream, and freeze.

Put 1 jigger of rum and 2 tablespoons of the frozen mixture in a generous- size mug. Fill mug the rest of the way with boiling water. Stir.


Makes many wonderful mugs full.
