Bebo's Offers a Rock-Solid Salsa, and Outstanding Mixes

Chips and salsa are my favorite snack. I recently watched Sunday-night television fully equipped with Bebo's Authentic Mexican Salsa (Hot), and a full bag of my favorite tortilla chips. Bebo's salsa is a fully-flavored tomato salsa from Judy and Tom "Bebo" Padilla, who have carried it down from Mama Socorro of San Luis, Potosi, Mexico, who was apparently the grand chef of the family.

Bebo's salsa is noticeable for it's jalapeno flavor. The sauce is a little watery, and I found the salsa's flavor increases with the temperature. The salsa is available in Mild, Medium, Hot, and Extra Hot. I actually preferred the Hot alone with tortilla chips, and the Medium or Mild varieties for other recipe combinations. The Extra-Hot is powerfully hot....have some water handy when using. All varieties have a nice flavor.

Bebo's salsa contains no sugar or MSG. It does not contain any preservatives, so be careful not to keep it in the refrigerator for too long.

We happily discovered Bebo's salsa also makes a great guacamole dip. Guacamole is probably one of the most nutritious snack foods ever created. Whenever avocados are in season at your grocery store, don't hesitate to take the opportunity to make it. Guacamole also makes a delicious topping to hamburgers.

Taco Spice Mix Wins For Dips, Parties

Bebo's also offers a wonderful line of taco and chili mixes. I find these mixes to be their strongest suit. When I go to a party, one aspect that I use to evaluate it is by the food provided. I find a plain can of bean dip or bowl of sour cream to be boring. And it's so easy to create something distinctive.

Having a holiday party at your house soon? Your guests will be greatly impressed with Bebo's Bean Dip - a delicious combination of refried beans, Bebo's Taco spice mix and salsa, plus cheese and onions. Expect to replace the bowl at least once.

If you want to make something less ambitious, Bebo's Taco spice mix combined with sour cream and some bebo's salsa fine as well. We didn't try the Chili Spice Mix, but I'm certain it would make a great chili dinner.

Bebo's Taco spice mix is one of the finest spice mixes we've encountered. Stock-up on several, and try them out this winter, either for yourself or for your next party.

Guacamole

Ingredients:

• 2 large ripe avocados, mashed
• 2 tsp. lemon or lime juice
• 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
• 1/4 cup Bebo's salsa
• 1/4 tsp. seasoned salt (we used Obie-Que's wonderful Beaumont seasoning)

Directions:
Combine all ingredients; mix well. Makes about 2 cups.

Bean Dip

Ingredients:

• 2 tsp. olive oil
• 1 can (16 oz.) refried beans
• 1/2 cup Bebo's salsa
• 1/4 tsp. salt
• 2 cups shredded Colby cheese
• 2 green onions, finely chopped
• 1/2 package of Bebo's Taco spice mix.

Directions:
Combine all ingredients in large skillet (reserving about 1/4 cup cheese). Cook over low heat, stirring frequently, until mixture is hot and cheese is melted. Transfer to heated serving dish and sprinkle with remaining cheese. Makes about 2 1/2 cups.

Taco Sour Cream Dip

Ingredients:

• 1 16 oz carton of sour cream
• 1 package Bebo's Taco spice mix

Directions:
Mix together in a bowl. Thin with Bebo's salsa.
